Amelia Island~Day 1

Today started with a wonderful 7:30 wakeup call from Emma Grace. We had a quick breakfast and headed down to the beach for some great fun with the family...

Lunch consisted of an hour drive to Pizza Hut and back thanks to the Garmin who completely fooled us on the mileage! Who said technology was perfect? (Just don't ask Bill Gates that question). Oh, and don't ask my husband about the Pizza Hut excursion, it wasn't the best decision I've ever made. Anyway, the pizza was a hit for lunch followed by a nap for the kiddos (including Dusty).

After nap, we drove over to the plantation to swim at the pool with Mimi, Aunt Bee, and John. Mimi insisted that floatation devices hinder children's learning, so very few of those were used! I couldn't tell you how many times she told Emma to "kick and dig" as if she understood what either of those meant. But a good attempt on her part. Emma enjoyed the 1...2...3...blow in her face and dunk her technique. She even started counting the numbers out herself. Smart Girl!

Swimming was shortly interrupted by a call from the Gailey clan that dinner plans were to be in 1.5 hours causing us to scramble back to get ourselves cleaned up and to the restaurant by 6. We made it-Even EARLY I might add. THE SURF on Fernandina was fun. We sat on the deck (all 14 of us) and listened to some entertaining live music while the children danced the night away.

Today ended with some glorious peace and quiet. Trey, Dusty, and Amanda took a stroll over to the Falcon's Nest for some fun, while the ladies and papa enjoyed the silence and some early sleep!
